Deloitte: Get to Know Financial Advisory
17 March 2022

In March, we partnered with Deloitte to learn more about their financial advisory business areas.
We first had the opportunity to hear from Amna Wajahat about her experience working in Turnaround & Restructuring and the rewarding learning opportunities available as a graduate.
Here, members were excited to develop an in-depth understanding of the varied and integrated nature of work performed, ranging from financial restructuring and insolvency to data analytics.
Alexandra Caldow and Miranda Norton then provided us with detailed insight into Deloitte’s Forensic Solutions. We learned about the ever-evolving nature of forensic accounting including the role of technology and the different types of services provided, including data management and dispute resolution.
Thank you Amna, Alexandra and Miranda for this incredibly informative event!

Leadership Day 2021
29th September & 6 October 2021
During the mid-semester break, members of BAP Monash participated in a two-part workshop series for Leadership Day. It was a privilege to hear from Josh Farr, the founder of Campus Consultancy, for the second year in a row. This time Josh guided our members through the topics of Growth Mindset & Resilience, Habits for Peak Performance, Mastering Communication and Adaptive Leadership. The workshops were incredibly engaging and insightful and encouraged our members to apply a series of techniques to develop, among other things, a growth mindset to assist in their professional and personal pursuits.
A huge thank you to Josh for your efforts in running the sessions, and to BAP Swinburne and Melbourne for joining this event!

Orientation Day - What is Accounting?
1 March 2022

New and returning members were excited to attend Beta Alpha Psi - Xi Epsilon's 2022 orientation event. This year, we participated in engaging workshops focused on skills that graduates must have to be successful future professionals. We discussed the importance of developing key professional competency areas including intellectual thought, interpersonal skills and ethical leadership.
During the first workshop, we were joined by Professor Gary Carnegie who shared his understanding on what accounting is today. We tackled key issues including the restrictiveness of conventional accounting definitions, and how accounting can only achieve its full potential when conducted in a way that benefits organisations, people and nature.
Daniela Juric then led a second case study that focused on the role non-financial information has in the accounting practice. Members had the opportunity to collaborate with each other and discuss innovative solutions to complex social issues relating to the disclosure of accounting information in the IVF industry.
Thank you to all speakers and attendees including Beta Alpha Psi - University of Melbourne Chapter, Beta Alpha Psi - The University of Auckland Chapter and Beta Alpha Psi - The University of Waikato Chapter for an engaging and successful event. We are very excited for 2022!
